Our Story

OUR STORY

FRAM Filters’ origin dates back to 1932 in the United States of America, where chemists Frederick Franklin and T. Edward Aldham invented a replaceable oil filter element. The brand name is derived from the first two letters of Frederick’s name and last two letters of Aldham’s surname. Thus, FRAM Filters was born.

Since 1979 G.U.D. Holdings have had the privilege of manufacturing and marketing the legendary FRAM brand in South Africa, establishing a loyal local customer base with it. That’s over forty years that we’ve kept South Africans’ engines revved up and on the road.

Our FRAM filters are manufactured in Durban and Pietermaritzburg to the highest quality standards and undergo rigorous performance tests to ensure they meet OEM service intervals. We comply with ISO9001/IATF16949 manufacturing quality standards at our factories which includes on-site state of the art laboratories.
